Trees grow from seeds. Depending on the species it is difficult to very difficult to get the seeds to germinate and produce a seedling. Sometime it takes more than one year. Only with skilled help we would be able to succeed.

Therefore we buy one or two year old seedlings at a nursery. This does not cost much. We plant the little trees. The only tool we need is a spade.

If we want to create a better understanding of the tiny trees we could put the seedlings into pots half a year before we want to plant them on their final destination. This way the youth can nurse 'their' plants at home.

It may be necessary to protect the plants against hare, deer or goats. We erect a fence around the plantation or put gards for every seedling.

During the first weeks after planting we must check if the roots need some water.

After about half a year we should check if the little plants get enough air and space - eventually we have to remove some grass or other unwanted growth.
