Girls and boys plant 10 little trees eachThis is how:
In autumn one year old trees are put in little pots to be nursed at home until planting time next spring: During the first weeks they may need a little water, but they can stay outside on the balcony or in the garden. Frost does not do any harm.
At planting time - in the middle of Europe usualy in February or March - under supervision of a forest ranger the little trees are taken out of their pots and planted in the forest or on a forest border (see 'Where')
During the first year the plantation should be visited from time to time: Perhaps some water is needed or in May/June grass and other weeds should be removed to give the tiny trees room for growing.
then no more care is needed.
Costs:
The little plants cost not more than 50 cents at any forest nursery. Your forester will know an address. Some good soil is needed and a little pot (the bottom of a plastic bottle will do) - that is all.
